Basilica of Saint John and Paul

It’s situated in the honomyn campo. The plant it’s a latin cross with transept, one nave and two sides divided by enoumous cilindric columns. The gothic vaults are connected by woodden braces to compensate the weight of the ceiling and arch.
On the sides you will find several monuments, on the right you have some chapels (also on the transept you find two chapels each side). Until the ‘600 the nave was divided in two as the Frari’s Church. Very important in the Chapel of Rosario, destroyed and then rebuilt during the years. Starting from the ‘300 this chapel was dedicated to San Domenico, just during the 1582 it has been dedicated to Madonna del Rosario due to the Fight of Lepanto. The chapel burned during 1867 with all its paintings, the gold ceiling and other 34 painting stored there during a restoration. A very big loos for the art of the world!!!
The chapel has a big nave and a squared presbytery, both covered by a ceiling by Carlo Lorenzetti, finished in 1932. on the ceiling there are three marvellous painting of Veronese, brought here from the Church of Umiltà (Zattere, Venice). On the side of the presbytery some bas-relief from the XVII has been rebuilt, and all around the walls you will find other sculptures and paintings.
Outside the Church has a big façade diveded in three parts, with two “eyes” and a central rose-window. On the lower part you can find six graves inside of three gothic arch and the big door from the 1459. The operas of the façade are from Bartolomeo Bon and Domenico Fiorentino.
In the top of the facede there are the staues of three Dominican Saints: San Tommaso d’Acquino, San Domenico and san Pietro Martire. On the side you have other buildings and the chapels.
